You love the space. It’s the perfect place to grow your business. You have to have it! The agent says the space is being shown again later that day to someone who has shown interest before. The lease is long, but somehow you convince yourself that it must be just a standard lease. You sign it. You sleep well that night. Virtually every time, signing a lease as presented is a mistake, but its not the first mistake. The first mistake is not having a lawyer ready to review a proposed lease in just these circumstances, and to ask for changes that your lawyer sees are reasonable in the circumstances.
